Strawberry-Basil Lemonade is my summer go-to, born from a day when I went strawberry picking at a local farm and had a craving for something fresh.
It’s a quick, tart-sweet drink with a basil twist you can make in just a few minutes.
I love playing with different fruits to make it my own, and you can too. It’s perfect for a quiet porch moment or sharing with company.
Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 4 glasses
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, stems removed
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (approx 3 lemons)
- 3 cups COLD water
- 2 tablespoons honey (or agave, your choice)
- 5 basil leaves, lightly crushed
- Ice and strawberry slices for serving (I also love to use frozen grapes as ice!)
- Try this: Swap strawberries for blackberries or add a hint of rosemary.
Steps:
- Blend strawberries, lemon juice, and honey until smooth. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- Pour into a pitcher with cold water and mix well.
- Squeeze basil leaves gently, add to the pitcher, and stir. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve over ice in your favorite glass, with a strawberry slice for garnish.
- Tip: Save in a sealed pitcher in the fridge, adding fresh basil before serving for peak taste.
Important Note: Check for allergens like honey or any ingredients you choose. Store in a sealed pitcher in the fridge with fresh ingredients, adding basil before serving for the best flavor, and follow good food storage practices for safety.
